Turkish Van cats are known to love water and frolicking in it. This rather unique fascination of Turkish Van towards water helped in breaking the impression that all cats despise being exposed to water. Nicknamed the “swimming cat”, Turkish Van’s inclination to water earned it a story that it was the breed that alighted Noah’s Ark and swam ashore when the ark came to rest.

Turkish Angora

Originating from Turkey like the Turkish Van, Turkish Angora also takes a spot in the list of cat breeds that love water. This breed was first recognized before its cousin Turkish Van and it has a smaller, more delicate features compared to the latter. Despite the differences in sizes, coat and other characteristics, Turkish Angora shares the same proclivity to water as Vans.
