Cat’s Face Shape Reveals Cat’s Personality

A number of animal researchers and cat behaviorists have presented observations relating a cat’s face shape with its personality. They have defined three types of cat face shape which can supposedly reveal a lot about a cat’s traits and temperament. While these studies are not definite, as most cats have their unique individual characters, this still gathered approval and gained commendations from cat fanciers and pet owners.

If a cat’s face shape is SQUARE

Square-faced cats are nicknamed “the retrievers.” Apparently, cats with a square shape face share the same friendly traits of retriever dog breeds. They’re defined as affectionate and are eager to please their human. They also have a calm friendly temperament which makes them the ‘purr-fect’ feline companions to kids or a multi-pet household. Usually, big cat breeds like Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest have this square face shape. Coincidentally, or maybe not, these feline breeds have long been reputed to have this sweet laid-back personality. As such, the claim that a cat’s face shape reveals its personality seem to have come from great observation.

If a cat’s face shape is ROUND

Round-faced cats usually don’t just have round heads but also round big eyes and a rounded body. These cats’ faces would most often be flat so they don’t really have a defined facial profile. Now these types of cats are dubbed as “the lapdogs.” They are submissive felines that like to pick their favorite humans whom they will show their trust and be very affectionate with. Additionally, round-faced cats have sweet, quiet dispositions but are also usually the ‘scaredy-cat’ ones. Examples of cat breeds with round faces are Persian cats and Himalayan.

If a cat’s face shape is TRIANGULAR

Triangular-faced cats are usually the sleek and sharp looking ones. They have slender bodies, narrow face from nose down and pointed ears. They’re nicknamed “the herders,” getting compared to their canine counterparts that are curious and love to herd stuff. They’re the most active kind in terms of activities and vocalization. For this reason, if cat’s face shape is triangular, they’re best human partners are also the active ones to keep each other’s days bustling and interesting. To name a few cat breeds with this face shape, there’s the Siamese and Abyssinian cats.

Cat Face Geometry

Cat face geometry is said to be helpful for matching a cat to a person. Since people want to keep healthy relationships, even with a cat they want to adopt, this study is a good tool for finding a good match. This is also extra useful for ‘mutt’ cats whose breed can’t be determined. Now, go ahead and look at your cat’s face shape and see if its personality is as described.
